The Clothsmith Story

Clothsmith is a British homewares brand offering considered pieces that will bring beauty to your everyday. The founders, Polly and Heidi, believe passionately in sharing the extraordinary craftsmanship of textiles from both past and present and have designed a carefully curated home collection of timeless, modern pieces.

Inspired by historic artistry, their designs have been reworked and digitally enhanced to create entirely unique pieces which, with time, will become much-loved heirlooms in our ever evolving homes.

Clothsmith is Polly and Heidi’s second venture in the world of interiors, having owned an award-winning London interior design studio for many years. Recognising that they had built a strong partnership based around shared values, creative vision and friendship, they sought to create something new that worked around the madness of the five impish boys they have between them. A lightbulb moment over a zoom coffee transpired and Clothsmith was born.

Now London based, Polly’s love of pattern and colour is rooted in her upbringing. Growing up close to the South Downs, her artistic mother brought flair and style into their home with hand painted murals and chequerboard floors. Inspired by hours of scouring antique fairs both near and far, Polly has established a discerning eye for beautiful textiles from hand embroidered silks to milky white French linens.

Heidi’s inspiration lies in the form of things, having trained in both architecture and dance. She seeks simplicity in pieces that tell a story, from the tangible weight of an object to the intricate weave of fine cloth. Now based in New York she craves the softer tones of the English countryside in her own interiors. From Lincolnshire to Long Island, her travels have shown her the importance of being surrounded by pieces lovingly collected over time to create a sense of home.
